This assumes some leak detection and repair activities are completed by facility operators without the use of OGI or alternative technologies. For example, regular inspections using AVO or snoop and associated repairs.

LDAR Sim can be a helpful first step in evaluating the feasibility of a given LDAR program and how it might compare to other programs. LDAR Sim is not a substitute for testing LDAR programs in the field or professional consultation. LDAR Sim is based on current trends in scientific publications and a limited set of field data from LDAR technologies.

For any non-educational use LDAR Sim requires interpretation from a qualified professional. As outlined in the Terms of Use, LDAR Sim, the University of Calgary, the Centre for Smart Emissions Sensing Technologies, or any contributors to LDAR Sim cannot be held liable for any results or damages that result. You, or your qualified professional, are fully responsible.

The ‘default’ parameters for this program may not be appropriate for all situations. You are responsible for verifying your parameters. The model is stochastic and will not necessarily replicate results across multiple simulations, even if the same input parameters are used. It is very easy to use LDAR Sim in bad faith to produce results that show large emissions reductions for little cost, similar to other LDAR simulators. It is recommended that any result dissemination includes all input parameters.

LDAR Sim was developed in an educational context and has been shared in the hope that it will be useful. This web application is a limited version of the full LDAR Sim model available on GitHub, which is updated regularly. Results are not necessarily comparable between LDAR Sim versions. The model may have bugs or issues; we welcome suggestions and contributions to LDAR Sim on GitHub.
